An Emerald Tomato For Summer
A fresh tomato and basil salad is a great accompaniment to any braai, but sowing the seed and growing yourself is even better.
The new F1 hybrid Tomato ‘Emerald’ has just been released by MayFord Seeds for sowing this spring for a summer harvest. This tomato has uniform fruit of good quality on an excellent yielding plant that matures early (60 – 65 days after transplanting) and is also perfect for sauces and salsa. ‘Emerald’ has blocky fruit on plants with good leaf cover which protects the fruit exposed to the sun, and they have intermediate resistance to bacterial wilt disease.

Round Skillet
In the Camp Master range, look out for this cast iron 30cm round skillet for a host of applications on a braai. It has a high heat retention that is also evenly distributed and it can be used on any heat source – direct or indirect. Under R360.

Large Tongs
The Camp Master Aluminium Tongs are 600mm long with an extended handle to protect against heat. Under R150.

Firefox Braais
Firefox braais are offered in a range of steels to match the braai to the environment it is going to be built into. In the Highveld (where the climate is drier) mild steel is a good choice for a braai located on a covered patio. At the coast or where the braai is located in the rain, rust-resistant steel such as 3Cr12 and stainless-steel are a better choice.

Potjie Lid Lifter
It’s a no-brainer to get a cost-effective tool to do the job of lid lifting so that you don’t burn yourself on the hot metal. This Camp Master version is 280mm x 62mm x 32mm. Under R20.

White Maize ‘Nevada’
Braaied corn is one of the tastiest vegetables you can have. The charred kernels give it an extra flavour that is delicious. Even better is growing the corn yourself.
Just in time for summer sowing comes the new White Maize ‘Nevada’, a superb variety of seed. It has good disease resistance and good grain quality and is even suitable for small scale farming. It is also perfectly suited for organic farming, and to respond to a frequently asked question especially with regard to maize; as is the case for all MayFord products, ‘Nevada’ is 100% non-GMO.

Go Portable
Firefox’s portable Spit Griller is a must for outdoor enthusiasts. It comes in a briefcase-size pack measuring 545mm x 350mm x 85mm and opens out into a charcoal braai with a motorised rotisserie basket, for easy cooking while fishing, on a picnic or on a weekend away. The addition of a charcoal starter makes lighting your braai child’s play.

Dutch Oven
You will find that often a Dutch oven can do a variety of tasks like making a stew/potjie or baking bread which makes it a very handy piece of cookware to have, for the oven as well as outdoors on the braai. The Camp Master Dutch Oven is cast iron so that it will last a lifetime. Under R500.
