Morningside Farm

Sandy and Stuart McKenzie

The Morningside Farm garden was established five years ago when the existing house was renovated and enlarged. It comprises 20 acres of expansive lawns and flower borders, and abuts an airfield. Sugar cane fields form part of the borrowed landscape. The rose garden is fairly new but as it is bathed in sunshine, the roses thrive and never stop blooming. Nearby is a protea bed, beautifully planted. It conforms to all the requirements necessary for the different varieties to make a lovely show. Easily accessible to the main house is a raised vegetable garden, fittingly embellished by old garden gates.

There will be a talk on Spring Gardens on Saturday 16 October at 11:00 by the well-known Gerald Schofield. The nearby Hangar Café will be on open on Saturday morning from 8:30 to 12:00.

Directions: Take the R56 to Richmond. From Thornville T-Junction, travel 19.6km to the second Richmond turnoff to the left. Turn left, and immediately you will see Morningside Farm on your left.
