Barrydale in Bloom 2024

It is time again for Barrydale in Bloom, the town’s annual charity fundraising event, from 18 – 20 October, where the community comes together to showcase its diverse Klein Karoo gardens in the Open Garden Safari through Barrydale and Smitsville, to raise money for Barrydale Hospice.
The bustling garden market, tea garden, talks, some of the workshops and the gala dinner will be at Karoolkie Cellar. A first for the festival will be a fairy throne competition where locals and budding artists can get super creative.
The vibrant painting of local artist Michelle Berry, The Garden, that is used in this year’s poster will be auctioned, with the fairy thrones and other fabulous items, at the Forage and Feast dinner on Friday night.
During the week prior to the festival the famous Magpie Art Collective will offer a three-day workshop on how to make flowers from plastic bottles, local chefs will do cooking demonstrations, you can learn more about snakes, hike through the Klein Karoo fynbos on a farm and explore the new cycle loop to your heart’s content.
Last year a record amount of R55000 was raised for Barrydale Hospice, and this year they aim to top that.
