The gardens are larger than the average town garden and boast flower, vegetable and fruit gardens with the main focus on self-sustainability. Gardening here can be challenging due to harsh winters and heavy frost. The ground is often boggy in the summer months after the rains. The area is primarily a grassland and wetland area. Birdlife in the area is prolific and there are a number of raptors and owls in the area. There are also small mammals which include meerkat, gannets, porcupine and hare. This is also home to the giant bull frog. The gardens are all eco- friendly.
