Meyer Garden
Friday 21 – Sunday 23 October
This garden is filled with whimsy, humour and fun. Wherever you look, there is something to make you smile – a turquoise bench or the ‘Cuppa Tree’. Despite not taking itself seriously, the garden is planted with a vast array of water-wise plants and shows off seriously responsible gardening.
Van Zyl Garden
Friday 21 – Sunday 23 October
Welcome to the ‘Bromeliad Garden’. Although the garden is not large, the owner has maximised the space available by offering layer upon layer of colour – rich deep burgundies, bright greens and silvery greys in amazing textures to show off his collection of over 3000 species off to its best advantage.
Van Heerden Garden
Friday 21 – Sunday 23 October
Perfectly clipped topiaries, a manicured lawn and interesting borders offset the architectural beauty of this home. At the back we are transported to a mix of ‘Desert Zen’ – a dry landscape of aloes and succulents. An enormous pergola and handcrafted bridges invite you to meander through this new addition.
Gemmel Garden
Friday 21 – Sunday 23 October
This breath-taking beauty is perched high up in Sir Lowry’s Pass. An expansive garden with such clever planting that the borders don’t contain the garden but rather open it to include the surrounding landscape. This garden inspires you to take a deep breath before continuing with normal life!
Dancer Garden
Friday 21 – Sunday 23 October
All-season colour inspires these gardeners, from indigenous aloes, past the shade garden dotted with impatiens, a gorgeous grey-green saltbush hedge, through the well-used kitchen garden, and the rose garden. Interspersed are beautiful statement pieces – a camellia, a magnolia, a jasmine-covered archway and a magnificent pride of Madeira.
Goldeneye
Friday 21 – Sunday 23 October
A well-known local movie venue, this property looks all the way to Table Mountain. It is a large garden filled with imaginative and artistic features and lush planting reflecting the owner’s flair. A balcony allows one to take advantage of the magnificent view and overlooks the extensive vegetable garden.
