Brooklands Farm Garden

Saturday 22 – Sunday 23 October

This 50-hectare property overlooks Howick and the Drakensberg. The style is evolving into an indigenous, water-wise garden to attract birds and insects. There are still azaleas and camellias that flower abundantly in spring under the plane-tree-lined entrance driveway. Flowering cherry trees, agapanthus, hydrangeas, salvias, assorted flowering shrubs, aloes and succulents complement one another happily as they share the common space of this country garden. There is a dam as well as a small herd of Nguni cattle, free-ranging chickens, ponies, dogs and a few beehives.

  • Directions: From N3, take Hilton offramp onto the Hilton College Road in the direction of the Life Hospital. Pass The Avenues shopping centre on the right. Continue approximately 2km and turn right onto D494. Continue to crest of hill, turn right, then take left fork. Brooklands/Farm 6 is signposted and is the third property on the right. Please follow parking signs within the property.

Hill N’ Dale

Saturday 29 – Sunday 30 October

Craig and Mary Anne Elstob Originally an indigenous garden, it underwent a radical transformation after Craig and Mary Anne bought the property in 2016. With Mary Anne’s love of English Country Gardens, she set about putting her own stamp on the property. Now over 250 roses underplanted with beautiful perennials take centre stage – specifically for picking. Even the vegetable garden has been transformed. The result is a billowing plethora of plants and colour.

  • Directions: From the N3 take the Cedara offramp and drive back towards Hilton along Cedara Road. Turn left at the 2nd road on the left, Dale Road, and proceed to No.12 Hill ‘n Dale.
