Garden 1 – Almut Buhr, 1 Sandlee, 4 Coghill Avenue, Kloof
This indigenous and exotic garden, tucked away in the heart of Kloof, has many rooms. From the driveway you can turn right into a shady forest, with a vegetable enclosure in one corner, or you can walk straight up past the fountain filled with fish, through a stone wall into a flower garden with a tool room and compost heap. You will find a place to sit under the pergola, with a view across the lawn and flower beds. And around the corner is a courtyard where you can enjoy a drink of water.
Garden 2 TWIMS (formally Crowhurst), 74 Everton Road, Gillitts
TWIMS garden over the years has had many faces. It was once an exotic formal garden which was transformed into an indigenous garden. Now it is a mixed garden with beautiful meandering pathways leading you around the property and allowing one to enjoy the entire garden. Mass plantings have been achieved to keep the garden organised and easy to explore. The garden offers beautiful sunny spots which display aloes and grasslands as well as lush shady spots which show off clivias in abundance.
Garden 3 – Ian Todd and Paul Bushell, 11 Lyngarth Road, Kloof
This Kloof garden has been paired back to create a manicured and simple sanctuary. The garden is surrounded by a combination of plane and indigenous trees. Beneath them, is an overhanging bamboo wall, which creates an additional screen of privacy and colour. The rolling lawn is formalised with impressive urns and boxed topiaries. A place where traditional elements have been curated to create a more contemporary feel.
