Harcourts Open Midlands Gardens 2022 – Richmond
We are delighted to invite you to a new season of Harcourts Open Midlands Gardens – this year entitled Town and Country as the gardens can be found in Pietermaritzburg, Hilton, Howick and as far as Balgowan, Kamberg, Karkloof and Curry’s Post, Lidgetton and three lovely gardens in the Richmond area.

Morningside Farm
Saturday 29 – Sunday 30 October
Sandy and Stuart McKenzie This garden was established six years ago, when the existing house was renovated and enlarged. It comprises two acres of expansive lawns and flower borders. The rose garden is fairly new but as it is bathed in sunshine, the roses thrive and never stop blooming. Nearby is a protea bed, and easily accessible to the main house is a raised vegetable garden.
- Directions: From the N3, take the R56 to Richmond. From Thornville T-junction travel 19.6km to the second Richmond turnoff to the left. Turn left and immediately you will see Morningside Farm on the left.

Brooklyn Farm
Saturday 29 – Sunday 30 October
Lindsay and Div Bruce A rambling farm garden with huge, long-established trees, and beautiful lawns. The borders are filled with clivias, but the abundant roses make a wonderful display.
- Directions: From Durban on the N3 take the Umlaas Road and Richmond offramp, travel until Thornville junction. Travel 11km to the D767 on your left. Turn left and travel 3km. This road ends at Brooklyn Farm.

Sunnyhill Farm
Saturday 29 – Sunday 30 October
Jenny and Mally Thompson A large semi-formal garden with an abundance of roses, perennials and annuals. It also includes a beautiful Garden Room and raised vegetable beds. Benches, arches and ornaments are found throughout the garden. Superb vistas.
- Directions: From Durban on the N3 take the Umlaas Road and Richmond offramp, travel until the Thornville T-junction. Turn left at the large purple Blackwood Nursery signboard and travel 500m.
