Plett Open Gardens - de Bruyn

Plett Open Gardens 2024

Saturday 9 November

Garden lovers along the garden route can look forward to the Plett Open Garden Day when the Plett Animal Welfare Service (PAWS) will again showcase four lovely local gardens.

This ever-popular event has become a firm fixture on the gardening calendar and always attracts a large number of visitors from as far afield as Mossel Bay.

The featured gardens always offer much more than simply colourful displays, as most are set against a spectacular backdrop of mountains and ocean and offer a variety of designs and plantings.

The Plett topography features steep hills and valleys and some of our most beautiful gardens have been created on steep inclines to make the most of the views while some designs incorporate terraces and use of natural rock.

Several residential estates require strict indigenous plantings while others have a more flexible approach.  One of the favourite destinations is Brackenridge Estate, where visitors can view not only a featured garden, but other gardens in the estate as well as marvellous views over the bay up to the Tsitsikamma mountains.

Outland Royale Country Restaurant will again host the PAWS Plant and Cake sale. Various plants, all donated by local nurseries, will be on offer. The cake sale is always a winner, with a selection of the most tempting home-made cakes, scones and tarts, as well as very special Christmas cakes and biscuits. Ouland will also serve refreshments throughout the day, making it a perfect stopover between garden visits.

Time: 10:00 – 16:00
