The van der Spuy family

The world-renowned Old Nectar gardens were created by Una van der Spuy between 1941 and her death in 2012 at the age of 100. Still in the van der Spuy family, the gardens now extend over 4 hectares, setting off the iconic 1700s and early 1800s Cape Dutch manor house, cellar and farm outbuildings, all situated in the beautiful Jonkershoek mountains and valley just outside Stellenbosch.
The gardens are open daily except for Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Time to view: 2-4 hours.

Entrance Fee: R50 per adult, no charge for under 18’s. On arrival in cash or EFT.

Directions: Travel on the R44 into Merriman Avenue in Stellenbosch, past Lanzerac Hotel into the Jonkershoek Valley, and 300 m past Post Card Café.
