Anigozanthus hybrids
Cat’s Paw or Kangaroo Paw
The cat’s paw, a plant of Australian origin, is a perennial that is available in different colours, though many have a greenish tinge about them.
The tubular flowers are somewhat strange looking, two-lipped blooms that are borne on a stout stem. The stems and flowers are covered in coloured, woolly hairs. They last for extended periods, adding shape, form and interest to arrangements. The plants are relatively easy to grow in the less humid climates where there is no heavy frost. Mulch plants during autumn and winter to protect the crowns and water during dry periods.
