Transform Your Lawn

A lawn is so much more than a liability that needs weekly mowing. Treat it right and it can turn your garden into an oasis.

Don’t forget to water

Test the soil before watering and in very cold conditions, water during the day so that the water has time to soak into the soil before it gets colder during the night.

Buy a rake

Use a rake to take the top layer of dead grass off your lawn and keep it healthy. Autumn also heralds an abundance of fallen leaves, covering our lawns. Leaves in flower beds are good, acting as a mulch, but on lawns. A thick layer can smother lawns, causing patches to die off.

Your lawn may look like just a patch of grass, but it is actually a collective of thousands of tiny little plants that have the potential to enhance the beauty of your home and captivate your visitors, and it’s the lawn that hosts picnics and games on summer evenings.

Mowing

Let’s get it out of the way first – mowing is unavoidable if you have a lawn, but it doesn’t have to be a chore. Strap on your fitness watch and it’ll even earn you points! Mowing starts with a good-quality mower, like the Trimtech Lawnmower. Generating 2200W from its electric motor, it will cut your lawn quickly and evenly, and there’s no fuss with smelly petrol (or the worry of running out of the precious stuff!). Importantly, it comes with 11 height settings so you never have to mow your lawn shorter than you want to. It also has a child safety switch. The frame is powder-coated to prevent rust, the wheels have ball-bearings for smooth operation and it comes with a 1-year warranty.

A lawnmower is great for a big patch of lawn, but if you have a small lawn or a piece of lawn that’s uneven, hard to access or on a slope, a trimmer can be easier. Obviously, a trimmer like the Trimtech 900W Electric Trimmer is also the answer for neat edges and trimming around trees, pots and pathways.

If you need a heavy-duty tool for larger lawns as well as other tasks like cutting weeds, a petrol brush cutter such as the Trimtech 43cc Brush Cutter is a better bet. It comes with a nylon cutting head and a metal blade which can be easily switched depending on the job.

Top Lawn Tips

  • Only cut your lawn back by maximum 1/3 of its length at a time or it will get sunburnt. Keep the blade sharp for clean cuts.
  • Allow grass to grow a bit longer in mid-summer.
  • Don’t mow wet grass.
  • Feed your lawn with a top-quality lawn dressing or an organic bio fertiliser, and water it in.
  • Our final tip? Enjoy your lawn!

Tidying

If you want to keep your garden neat, investing in a leaf blower will make things much easier. Take the Trimtech 3300W Blower Vac for example – it is so useful for blowing leaves and grass clippings into a pile or simply out of the way, but flick a switch and it actually turns into a powerful outdoor vacuum that will suck up a mess for easy disposal.
