Clivia miniata
Natal Lily, Bush Lily
The Natal Lily are lovely shade loving plants that will produce an absolute spectacle in spring with their bright orange and yellow flowers. They are however, not suitable for cold gardens as their natural habitat is in the shade of South African forest and coastal bush.
They only need well drained soil, a bit of water and a dose of fertilizer during summer and autumn to produce a mass of colour in spring. Watch out for lily borer and get rid of them quickly as they can destroy masses of them in a very short space of time. Divide after the flowering season in October.
