More Contestants, Flowers And Challenges in Die Groenste Vingers

Who will bloom and flourish, and who will wilt this time?

The second season of kykNET’s exciting competition show for florists, Die Groenste Vingers, starts Wednesday 26 October 2022 at 20:00 on kykNET (DStv Channel 144).

Viewers will be treated to 21 challenges and 77 new bouquets, arrangements and creations over 13 episodes.

In a brand-new format, 15 of the country’s foremost flower fundis, most of them either fulltime or freelance florists, will compete in a variety of challenges which will require them to design and create unique floral arrangements. The oldest participant is 58 years old; the youngest is 24, and each contestant brings their own style and strengths to the table. Challenges – ranging from traditional to adventurous – include a steel arch for a wedding, flowers for a children’s party, gothic chandeliers and painting imitations. There will also be a flower-couture challenge again. A flower market and riddle boxes will be at the disposal of the participants. A new addition to the show, is a team challenge category that will require participants to collaborate on a team creation. A Special Christmas-inspired episode will be broadcast in December.

Various local celebs will act as guest judges – from a farm boy to a fashion guru and actresses. In the first five episodes, three florists will compete in two challenges: a mini creation, the winner of which will gain an advantage, and a solo creation. Only two florists will go through to the next round. In the sixth episode, the top 10 contestants will go up against each other in the first team-creation challenge in the greenhouse.

The ultimate winner of this season of Die Groenste Vingers will pocket R100 000.

Edrien Erasmus is the presenter again, and Leon Kluge and Franz Gräbe return as judges.

“We are very excited about the new, bigger and better, hour-long version of Die Groenste Vingers. We hope viewers will enjoy the second season as much as we enjoyed breathing fresh life into this beautiful show,” says Lyall Ramsden, the producer of the series.

The latest season was shot in a Johannesburg nursery. All flowers were supplied by Alsmeer Flower Market, and bouquets were donated to charity organisations after the filming of each episode.

Die Groenste Vingers starts Wednesday 26 October at 20:00 on kykNET (DStv Channel 144).
