Xmas Wreath with Staghorn and Tillandsias

What you will need

  • Airplants/tillandsias
  • Staghorn
  • Pinecones and pin oak seed pods
  • Penny gum branches/ cuttings
  • Sphagnum moss
  • Coir
  • Stockings/pantyhose
  • Spray paint
  • 2.5mm gauge wire and pliers/side cutter
  • Glue gun
  • Rope
  • Plastic-coated garden wire
  • *Fairy lights optional

Cut one loop of the wire role (approximately 500mm in diameter). Bend over the ends and clip them together, crimping the ends down. This will be your frame. Spray-paint both sides of the wire as well as some of the cones and seed pods. Wind penny gum around frame and secure with garden wire. Create a pocket for your staghorn with the stocking and coir, and tie it to the frame.Attach moss and seed pods to hide the stocking. Stick cones to the frame, working your way around the base of the frame. Place tillandsias to fill gaps in wreath. Add rope to the top, and hang. For extra effect, add fairy lights. This wreath will go on long after the festive season. It can even be kept on a veranda or indoors as a permanent feature.

Care: Hang out of direct sunlight. Mist once a week.
