The Homebarrow has replaced the heavy old-school one and has made life in the garden a whole lot easier. Designed and developed in South Africa, it’s ergonomic, has a cleverly designed swivel-wheel steering mechanism, and when you’re finished using it, it simply hangs up on your wall or is flat-packed out of the way.

Give a really useful gift

The STIHL GTA 26 cordless handheld pruner is versatile, compact and manoeuvrable, making it ideal for pruning, cutting up small branches, and even wood-based DIY projects and home upgrades. The powerful battery is interchangeable with the STIHL HSA 26 shears, for ultimate convenience. This year, give a useful gift that lasts.

Pretty and practical rustic seed feeders

A seed feeder with a ‘hat’ protects the seed from rainwater and allows you to feed less frequently. Opt for a mix of grains and seeds that include sunflower seeds as well as smaller grains to attract different birds, and suspend it from a branch or beam. All products are hand crafted in South Africa.

Sheenagh Harris rose

Earlier this year, one of our great rose champions, Sheenagh Harris, had a rose named after her. This was in recognition for her work on behalf of roses, internationally as well as in South Africa. The rose was named by rose breeders Girija and Viru Viraraghavan, famous for their extensive rose collection and gardens in southern India. They have held every elected position possible in the Indian rose world and write extensively about roses. globally.

Sheenagh has been at the forefront of the rose community in South Africa, serving as the president of the World Federation of Rose Societies from 2009 – 2011, and has been involved in many local rose societies. She has received countless awards and organised many international congresses, all for the love of roses. Her achievements are many and her promotion of roses never-ending.

The ‘Sheenagh Harris’ rose has been described by the breeders as a free-form rose that has warm colours like those of evening, in a way reflecting the warm glow of Sheenagh’s personality.
