Justicia brandegeeana
Shrimp Plant

Justicia Brandegeeana is another old favourite that needs more recognition as a good garden plant. The flowers are white and tubular and held within rust coloured bracts that cover the straggly little shrubs for much of the year.
Growing in sun or semi-shade, the shrubs seldom attain 1 metre in height and need to be pruned back in spring to encourage good, strong growth. The lime-yellow flowered form is sold as Justicia Brandegeeana ‘Chartreuse’ and performs in the same manner as the rust coloured parent. They can withstand light frosts only.
