Stachys byzantine
Lamb’s Ear
Children and adults alike are fascinated with the soft texture of Lamb’s Ear, it immediately attracts people to it to touch its leaves.
This is also a good plant for combining with other colours in a garden design due to its soft grey appearance. It is also know sometimes as Stachys Lanata or Stachys Olympica.
Flowers appear on tall spikes in late spring and early summer and include a few leaves with small white or pink flowers. Although they are considered evergreen, they can die back in winter if the temperatures are cold enough and in warmer climates suffer a bit if its too hot or humid. They prefer a semi shaded to full sun position in well drain soil. Feed with nitrogen rich fertilizer for the best results.
