Tools
Jigsaw, cordless drill, driver bit, 10mm drill bit for wood, paintbrush, compasses, pencil, tape measure, sander
The steps are for making one cornhole board, so repeat them to make a second and have a complete game.
- On one of the frame sides, make a mark halfway (610mm) from one end. There, mark a cut-out using the end of another piece of timber, and round the edges with a protractor.
- Cut out this handle using a jigsaw.
- On the long frame sides, make marks 100mm from one end and 44mm from the edge. Drill a 10mm hole at the marks.
- Screw the frame sides to the frame ends using the 65mm screws. Tip: if you want to make sure the frame will fit the plywood top, clamp the frame pieces to it before screwing the sides to the ends.
- Make the legs. First cut one end of each leg to 30° using a mitre saw or jigsaw.
- At the other end of each leg, find the middle 44mm from the end. Make a mark and draw a semi-circle with the compasses.
- Cut this semi-circle to round off the end of each leg. Sand smooth.
- Drill a 10mm hole on the mark you made in step 6.
- Using the 10mm nuts, bolts and washers, attach the legs via these drill holes.
- Screw a brace between two legs, 3cm from the bottom and parallel with the legs.
- On the boards surface, make a mark 225mm from a short edge and 305mm from each long edge. At this mark, draw a circle with a 75mm radius (150mm diameter) using the compasses.
- Drill a hole to get started and then cut out this circle using a jigsaw.
- Place the board on the frame, with the hole at the same end as the legs. Screw it in place using the 35mm screws.
- Sand the completed structure and then apply three coats of Woodoc WaterBorne MARINE
- If you want to, print out some lovely decals to fit the boards and apply them.
Making the bags
16 x 190mm squares of fabric (4 in each colour)
Thread
4kg mealie kernels (from an animal feed shop)
- Sew three sides of the cornbags and hem the fourth. Once sewn, the bags should measure 160mm square.
- Turn inside out an fill each bag with 400g of corn (the regulations say between 400g and 450g).
- Sew up the fourth side.
