This use of frozen potato chips is super easy and tastes great, making it perfect for your next camping trip or braai at home. You can also be creative with toppings, so try out some of your favourite flavour combinations.


500g frozen potato chips
100g bacon, cut into cubes
100g cheddar cheese, grated
A handful of parsley, chopped
1 tub sour cream or cream cheese
1 avocado
1 chilli, chopped
Juice of ½ lemon
Salt and pepper
Olive oil
Aluminium foil


Prepare the toppings first. Fry the bacon in a little olive oil until crispy and set it aside. Add the avocado, chilli and lemon to a food processor, season with salt and pepper and blend until smooth. Make a bowl shape with a sheet of foil and add the frozen chips, then season with salt and pepper. Top with the cheese, bacon and parsley and place on the grill on a medium-heat braai. Once the cheese is melted and the chips are hot, move to a serving dish and top with the sour cream and avocado cream. Serves 4.
