Daphne odora ‘Aureomarginata’

Winter Daphne

Daphne Odora Aureomarginata has a delicious and unique fragrance that, once experienced, will never be forgotten. This is a slow growing, evergreen shrub that is rare and scarce in this country. Its leaves are lance shaped and leathery with a narrow cream or yellow margin.

Terminal clusters of mauve or purple flowers cover the shrub in the middle of winter. Daphne Odora Aureomarginata is a cold hardy plant and only suitable for cool, temperate climates with high rainfall, where it grows best in fairly damp (but not waterlogged) slightly shaded positions. If you can locate one, this is a highly desirable plant.
