Felicia amelloides
Kingfisher Daisy
This is a little gem from our local shores. Felicia plants grow into sprawling or cascading sub-shrubs up to 50 cm high, often wider. Leaves are pale green, smallish and relatively insignificant. Blue daisies with a conspicuous yellow centre (disc florets) are borne singly on wiry stems held above the foliage.
Plants bloom for months from late winter to summer. Like most members of the daisy family, Felicias perform best in a sunny, well-drained position. They should be pruned back lightly when plants become scraggly or untidy. They withstand moderate frosts.
