
Crispy Chicken Burgers with Sticky Chilli Sauce
Here’s how to make this incredibly delicious crispy chicken burger with sticky chilli sauce.


For the crispy chicken burger you will need 3 – 4 large chicken breasts, cut in half lengthways to make thinner portions
Vegetable oil for frying
Marinade
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon white pepper
Mix all the ingredients together and add the chicken. Marinate for at least an hour, preferably overnight.
Coating
- 100g self-raising flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon mixed dried herbs
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon chilli flakes
- 1 egg, beaten
Mix together all the ingredients, except the egg, for the coating. Dip the marinated chicken pieces in the egg and then into the flour coating. Place a saucepan of vegetable oil on a hot fire and bring the oil up to temperature. When nice and sizzling, add the chicken pieces and cook until golden brown and cooked through. Dip in the sticky chilli sauce and assemble the burgers.
To serve your crispy chicken burger
- Toasted buns
- Grated cheddar cheese
- Lettuce
- Jalapeños for extra bite
Sticky chilli sauce
- ½ teaspoon fresh ginger, finely grated
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
Add a small saucepan to a heated grill and add all the ingredients. Cook and stir for 3 minutes and set aside to cool.
