Lamb and Tzatziki Burger
- 800g lamb mince
- ½ onion, grated
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 red pepper, finely diced
- 1 egg
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- Handful fresh mint, chopped
- Handful fresh coriander, chopped
- ½ teaspoon ground allspice
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon Cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper
- Olive oil
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and form into burgers. Set aside to blend all the flavours and braai when ready. Oil the burger before grilling to your liking, turning a few times. Serve your lamb and tzatziki burger with pickles, tomato and lettuce.
Tzatziki sauce
- 120g cucumber
- 150g full cream Greek yoghurt
- 2 tablespoons fresh mint, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons chives, chopped
- Salt and pepper
Grate the cucumber and place in a sieve. Add some salt and mix. Place over a bowl and let the excess liquid drain from the cucumber. Let it stand for about an hour. Squeeze any excess liquid you can from the cucumber and add to a bowl with all the other ingredients. Season with pepper and set aside until ready to serve. Make this sauce early so the flavours blend for a better result.
