Slugs On Toast – Braai Recipe

Girls have decided that they too can fire up a braai and do some really good braaiing. In her book Girls on Fire, Camilla Comins does just that and adds her own special flair to the braai. The recipes are different, fun, sometimes healthy, and there is something for everyone, including the kids. Here is an excerpt from Girls on Fire:

I used to love these as a child, and they get wolfed down (often by sneaky adults) when I cook them on a covered braai. When you are done with the main event, these toasts can go on a low direct fire under a lid.

Ingredients

6 slices white sandwich bread
250g streaky bacon
375ml grated cheddar cheese
2 – 3 bananas
30ml honey

Serves 4 – 6

Method

Make toast with the sandwich bread and set aside. Cook the bacon until crispy. Scatter cheese liberally on each slice of toast. Top with a couple of bacon rashers, then banana and pop them on the braai to crisp and get melty. Finish with a drizzle of honey.
