Make Your Own Solar Light Stand
This versatile solar light stand will have you making more! It’s easy to assemble, decorative and light enough to move around from patio to garden. What You Need To Make your Own Solar Light Stand
Timber cut as follows:
1 x 76mm x 95mm x 1000mm (Reclaimed timber
for upright)
1 x 250mm x 250mm (Plywood for base)
1 x 150mm x 150mm (Plywood for top)
2 x 1L Woodoc Water-Borne MARINE Clear (Matt/Gloss)
2 x 20ml Woodoc Colours Opal
1 x 20ml Woodoc Colours Beaufort Grey
Fine sandpaper
2 x Paintbrushes
Stirring spatulas
Wood filler
6 x 5mm x 50mm wood screws
1 x Hanging basket bracket
1 x Solar light
4 x 4mm x 200mm tent pegs
Tools

Make your Own Solar Light Stand: Step By Step
- Drill holes into the base board, 20mm inward from each corner.
- Sand all wood until smooth. Wipe and remove dust with a clean cloth.
- Stir 2 x 20ml Woodoc Colours Opal into 1L Woodoc Water-Borne MARINE Clear (this will be applied to upright. Then stir 1 x 20ml Woodoc Colours Beaufort Grey into 1L Woodoc Water-Borne MARINE Clear (this will be applied to the top and base board).
- Apply a first coat of each colour,allow to dry and rub gently with fine sandpaper. Wipe off dust. Repeat for second and third coat, with no sanding after the last coat. Ensure good coverage throughout, especially on the end grain.
- Place the top piece (150mm x 150mm) onto the upright and check that it is centered. Drill 2 pilot holes with the 4mm wood drill bit and countersink the holes. Secure with 2 screws.
- Flip the stand over and centre the base piece (250mm x 250mm). Drill 2 pilot holes with the 4mm wood drill bit and countersink the holes. Secure with 2 screws.
- Cover screws with wood filler and touch up once dry.
- Measure 60mm from top of upright and secure the hanging basket bracket with last 2 remaining screws.
- Anchor the stand by gently tapping a tent peg through each corner hole at the base.
