Heteropyxis
Lavender Tree

Heteropyxis
Heteropyxis, which is more affectionately known as the Lavender Tree, is a semi-deciduous small tree that has lavender-scented leaves, hence the name. This decorative little beauty is perfect for small gardens. You can germinate it easily from seed but be sure to protect it from frost. It usually flowers from September to March and then produces fruit from October to June. The leaves of the Lavender Tree are used in traditional African medicine, as are the roots, which are crushed, boiled and then inhaled to stop nosebleeds.
