Anyone for Cocktails?

This handy cocktail table is built and assembled in pieces, making it easy to move around and even take with on a picnic.

What You Need To Make This Cocktail Table

• 1 sheet shutterboard (2240 x 1220 x 18 mm)
• 25 full thread cut screws with
• square heads (4 x 30 mm)
• 12 wire nails (35 mm)
• 1 litre universal undercoat
• 1 litre Dulux Perlglo (Willow Creek – top)
• 1 litre Dulux Perlglo (Celtic Moor – column)
• 1 litre Dulux Perlglo (Moorland Magic – base)

Step 1: Cut the shutter board into pieces according to the cutting list

Step 2: For the tabletop:
• Mark the centre of the first 600 x 600 board. Knock a nail in the centre, attach the string to it, tie a pencil to the other end and draw a circle around the very edge of the board. Repeat with the other 600 x 600 board.
• Cut out the circles using a jigsaw.
• Mark a square on each circle, using the centre mark as a guide (finished squares should be 150 x 150 mm). Use a jigsaw to cut out one of the squares.
• Take the other circle and attach the 240 x 50 mm pieces and the 152 x 50 mm pieces to it, outlining the square you marked earlier. (These form supports for the next step.)
• Make a box with two 230 x 160 mm pieces and two 270 x 160 mm pieces, using glue and nails. Screw this box to the circle to which you added the supports.
• Place the circle with the square cut into its middle over the box and screw it in place.

Step 3: For the column, make a box with the two 1080 x 110 mm and two 1080 x 150 mm pieces. (Use glue and nails.) Measure 218 mm from one end and screw in a support using the two 150 x 50 mm and the two 187 x 50 mm pieces.

Step 4: For the base, make a box using the two 400 x 200 mm and the two 364 x 200 mm pieces. Glue and nail together as before. For the top of the base, find the centre of the two 400 x 400 mm boards. Using the same procedure as for the top, cut a square 150 x 150 mm in the middle of the board. On the other board, screw in the 240 x 50 mm pieces and the 152 x 50 mm pieces around the marked square. Screw the board with the hole in it onto the base square and screw the bottom to the base.

Step 5: Paint all the pieces with universal primer, allow to dry then paint the three sections different shades of green. We applied three coats of colour, allowing each to dry before applying the next.
